Restrictions Easing Today from 4pm

South East Queensland

From 4pm today, Friday 20 August, restrictions will ease in 11x local government areas (LGAs) across Queensland. These eased restrictions will include: 

  • up to 30 people in homes and public spaces
  • up to 100 attendees at weddings with a maximum of 20 people dancing
  • up to 100 attendees at funerals
  • community sport, with reduced spectators and in line with density requirements
  • 75 per cent ticketed and allocated seating capacity for indoor events (with COVID Safe Checklist) 75 per cent ticketed and allocated seating capacity for stadiums over 20,000 people with COVID Safe Site Specific Plans
  • Some mandatory mask requirements will remain. Read down below for more info.

Mandatory mask requirements remain in place

For everyone in the above 11x LGAs, you must carry a mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

You must wear a mask:

  • Indoors: You must wear a mask in indoor spaces (including in indoor spaces of construction sites and in Hutchies' offices) unless it is unsafe to do so. You may remove your mask if you can stay 1.5 metres away from other people.
  • Outdoors: You must wear a mask when you cannot stay 1.5 metres away from other people (including on Hutchies' sites) unless it is unsafe to do so.
  • At schools: Masks must be worn by teachers and staff (all schools), plus students in high school.
  • On public transport and in ride share:  You must wear a mask including while waiting for the transport in a public space such as a bus stop, taxi rank or train station.

Cairns and Yarrabah

From 4pm today, Friday 20 August, restrictions will be lifted for the Cairns and Yarrabah local government areas to match the restrictions for the rest of Queensland.

Vaccines are available

For anyone who wishes to get vaccinated, the Queensland Government has a dedicated web portal for anyone over the age of 16 to easily register for vaccination.

Once registered, you will then be contacted by the Queensland Government via email once a booking becomes available for you. Simply click the link in the email, sign up and then confirm a suitable booking time and location.
